Building Information Modeling is changing the way projects are built, which means it's also changing how you have to bid and what your technological capabilities must be to get hired in the future.

BIM Technology - a two-day course slated for March 4-5 at the Chicago Regional Council of Carpenters Training Center in Elk Grove Village - is designed to give your company the information it needs to implement BIM software and processess. Instructor Dan Klancnik of Walsh Construction Group will cover technology, process, capabilities and tools in the first session, including:

  • Benefits of the BIM approach
  • How parametric modeling relates to BIM
  • Comparison between the traditional approach to construction and BIM's collaborative approach
  • Matching specific BIM tools to their functions

The second session puts the focus on interoperability in BIM, including:

  • Differentiating ways to model
  • Coordinating systems, object managemention and version management
  • Identifying methods of data exchange

Cost is $495 for Builders Association members and $795 for non-members, and individuals who went to our BIM 101 course in January receive a $100 discount.

Fax these forms back to the Builders Association at 847-318-8586 or register online. For more information on this program or upcoming BIM education events, contact Mike Schultze.
