NIMEC, Bricklayers Extend Agreement
The Northern Illinois Mason Employers Council (NIMEC) came to an agreement with the Bricklayers District Council on a one-year extension.
The contract, subject to ratification by both parties, includes limited contract changes, including the ability of the Union to place a steward and a single allocation for all contracts (affecting local promotional fund and the industry advancement fund).
Pending ratification, the deal will last through May of 2010. MARBA will conduct a ratification vote prior to its board meeting in July.
The Builders Association continues to monitor grievances from the Operating Engineers regarding the use of temp heat. The next Joint Grievance Committee hearing has been moved to July 16, and the Union notified grieved contractors through letters last week that it intends to seek arbitration on the matter.
