On May 19, the U.S. Green Building Council released a new version of its Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Green Building Rating System --- LEED 2009 or LEED v3 --- for public comment. Since 2000, public and private owners alike have looked to LEED as a guide for new construction and major renovation projects.
Many federal and local governmental agencies now require new public building projects to be built to achieve LEED certification. AGC chapters and members should take this opportunity for public comment. Click here for information on reviewing the new version and submitting comments. AGC of America will prepare a longer article on the changes between LEED v2 and v3 when more details surface.
