BIM Event Hits Leadoff For Busy BA

  • Andy Cole
  • January 14, 2010

While the economy has slowed the rate of building, it hasn't slowed the rate at which the industry is changing. Studies produced by the AGC of America and a number of other industry organizations indicate that owners nationwide are requiring Building Information Modeling with rapidly increasing frequency.

Arm yourself with the information you need to get work these owners can provide, now and in the future. The AGC's BIM 101: An Introduction To Building Information Modeling will cover the basics of BIM and how it can help your business in an all-day course containing four sessions:

  • What Is BIM?
  • BIM Visualization Uses and Spatial Coordination
  • BIM Scheduling, Estimating and Facility Management
  • Getting Started With BIM

Learn from case studies how to avoid pitfalls other companies have gone through when adopting BIM, and develop an actionable plan.

This course, scheduled for Thursday, January 28 at the Carpenters Training Facility in Elk Grove Village, is being offered to Builders Association members at a discounted rate of $295. Register online or fax the attached forms back to 847-318-8586. For more on registration, the program or sponsorship opportunities, contact Mike Schultze at the Builders Association.

Other dates and events Builders Association members should keep on their radar:

Dr. Mark Federle will outline what the risks are best practices to overcome them. For more information on registration or sponsorship, consult Director of Client Services Kristin Garcia.
  • Our next Contractor Safety Forum Thursday, February 11 will focus on communicating best practices regarding safety and health to workers. Contact Kristin Garcia for more information.
  • The Builders Association has moved the set time for some meetings this year from breakfast to lunch. The Spring Meeting has been slated for May 27 at Oak Brook's Doubletree Hotel, from 12:30-3 p.m.
  • Members, have you mailed your dues renewal forms back to the Builders Association? Second notices have just been sent, and General Contractors whose renewal forms are received by the end of the month receive a 2% discount. Make sure your company continues to enjoy the benefits of belonging to the Builders Association. Project Manager Stacey Kelly can provide you with another copy of the renewal forms.
